THE HISTORY OF THE RX BLUES

The Rx Blues / St Louis was founded in 1992 by surgeon/ musician Jose Diaz and is still going strong 25 years later. The band has recorded 5 mostly original music CD’s , and continues to promote blues, R & B , and latin/ roots music throughout the metro St . Louis area.

They have been fortunate to open for such national acts such as Chuck Berry , Koko Taylor , Buddy Miles , Tommy Castro , Little Charlie and the Nightcats , Tab Benoit, Jim Thackery and the Drivers, James Solberg , Dan Licks and the Hot Licks , and Long John Hunter. They have performed multiple times at the St Louis Big Muddy Blues Festival and were fortunate to play at a fundraiser for Johnny Johnson weeks prior to his passing.

The band was the long time Saturday night house band at the Legendary Mike and Min’s / Soulard where they had opportunity to play with many St . Louis blues legends .

Their music has been played all over the world thanks to the internet and some Korean company used one of our songs for an unauthorized commercial.
